Friday's Five fragrances!

FFF, eco, fragranceNavigate with StyleComment
I have recently decided to remove traditional fragrances from my life in an effort to cut down on chemical laden beauty products.  Below are my new favorite fragrance brands that do not contain hormone disruptors and other awful ingredients:

* Nantucket Natural Oils - this company offers a huge array of single note fragrances that are great on their own or can be blended to resemble well known fragrances.  I started purchasing from this store during summers on Nantucket before I was aware of the eco aspect...

* Florascent - stunning fragrances and beautiful packaging to boot!

* Intelligent Nutrients - I definitely need to explore their full selection but their body elixirs are lovely!

* Pacifica - I love every single one of these fragrances and they have a wide distribution, making it easier for you to sniff before you buy.

* Rich Hippie - The cheeky name alone reels me in but the fragrances are awesome and the simple packaging is perfect.  The price point is HIGH so it's definitely a splurge but one bottle lasts a looooong time...

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Friday's Five books!

I love that books about style are so impossibly stylish in and of themselves they automatically add a chic touch to any room.  And, oh yeah,  I also happen to like reading them...

The 5 most stylish style books of the moment, in no particular order (all available on Amazon):

Carine Roitfeld: Irreverent by Carine Roitfeld - the ex French Vogue EIC shares her Parisian style sensibilities and an inside view of her work.

Diana Vreeland, The Eye Has to Travel by Lisa Immordino Vreeland - anything and everything DV is always an inspiration to me...

Eleanor Lambert, Still Here - Eleanor was an Indiana native!

Cristobal Balenciaga: The Work of the Master by Miren Arzalluz - I cannot say enough about this designer.

Daphne Guinness by Valerie Steele - she's eccentric in the best way possible and one of the most stylish women today.

Happy reading & happy FrIdAy!

Friday's Five Favorites...autumn/winter home fragrance!

FFF, eco, fall/winter, fragrance, holidays, shelterNavigate with Style2 Comments
I love having home fragrance options for each season as they really help to enhance the mood.  In the Spring & Summer I tend to go for clean & fresh scents.  For Fall & Winter I go for warmer, cozier flavors.  I always try to find green or at least semi natural options to avoid adding more chemicals to my home.  I stay away from plug in diffusers so as not to use more electricity but  I do like lamp rings because they work off the heat of active light bulbs.  Below are some of my new favorites for the next few months:

Apple Orchard Reed Diffuser by Eco Candle Home Fragrance $22 - I love the function and look of reed diffusers.  They are my number one choice for home fragrance in every room but beware cheap versions as the scents aren't as lush and don't last as long.

Orange Cloved Scented Soy Candle by Mrs. Meyers $6.99 - I refuse to buy anything but soy candles...I have no use for petroleum based candles...yuck!

Fresh Balsam Concentrated Room Spray by Slatkin $5 - My favorite holiday scent, hands down.

Frankincense Essential Oil by Aura Cacia $25 use with a lamp ring - can be a tad difficult with CFL bulbs.

Vanilla & Tonka Bean body, room and linen spray by The Body Shop $12 - I adore triple duty products!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Friday's Five Favorites...fash apps!

Below are some my favorite fashion & beauty apps on the iPhone (thank you, Mr. Jobs):

StyleCaster - offers up outfit choices based on the temp outside as well as videos and related news

Sephora - literally all the major beauty brands at your fingertips and a ton of features

Fashion Network - gobs of runway shows to peruse...currently listing Fall/Winter 2011 rather than the shows that just wrapped for Spring/Summer which I think is rawwwther helpful as we're currently IN Fall/Winter, thankyouverymuch!

FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) - great resource for news and trends (MTV viewers might recall this is where Lauren Conrad takes classes in episodes of the Hills)

Total Beauty - product reviews, detailed information and purchasing options...BIG database

All the apps above are free so tap away and HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!
