DIY spa recipes on #INsight...

Today on INsight I demonstrated my 3 favorite (and super easy) DIY spa recipes...click the links below to check them out.  Fair warning:  At one point I actually say, "just...ream it."  Oy vey...

DIY Beauty Disasters - I have certainly had my fair share of bad DIY beauty experiments.  I've put nearly everything you could think of on my hair, the worst being mayo...yuck!  I stay away from at home treatments that involve chemicals and I like to keep the recipes on the simple side.  It's not very relaxing to clean up a giant mess afterwards.

DIY Beauty Tips - I have used this recipe for body scrub for  years and I swear by it.  It is so effective but so much less expensive than store bought varieties.  Plus, I love knowing that it's literally two organic ingredients - no dyes, no fragrance, no chemicals.  For the face mask, I like to mash up the avocado before adding the honey - this gives you more control with the texture of the mask.  The foot soak recipe is also really great for the whole body but use a full gallon of milk in your bathtub and eliminate the rocks/marbles (ouch).

Thanks for watching!

I had an idea...

DIY, Indiana, eco, fun and games, give back, me, media, shelterNavigate with StyleComment
This summer a tweet was sent out by the Indy Film Fest about a limited edition poster created by Indianapolis based People for Urban Progress.  I clicked the link to see the poster and bought it instantly.  I had just moved to Indiana and was feeling this exact sentiment.  I have yet to hang the poster but I really love reading it.

Today, the poster just really spoke to me and I finally checked out the website for People for Urban Progress...UMMM, they kick some serious ass!  I am all for their mission and would love to see them grow and to inspire others to do the same.  Coming across groups like PUP gives me great hope for a fresh and modern future...

The poster is no longer available (maybe they'll do another run) but they sell other really cool shit on Etsy.

whole foods style...

Whole Foods is known for its fab selection of organic and healthy foods but their beauty and style departments are rapidly growing - much to my delight but to my wallet's dismay...

Jewelry, knit coin pouches and clutch purses, nursing/sleeping bras and boutique worthy organic cotton tee shirts and hoodies have joined the already popular beauty aisles. Yoga gear, baby toys and clothes as well as fashionable water bottles join the soy candles and sage smudge sticks. Flip flops, sunglasses and woven handbags are now conveniently offered next to your favorite hippie mouthwash.

Whole Foods is quickly becoming a lifestyle brand...me likey. Now I just need them to open up in Ft. Wayne!
