Today on INsight I demonstrated my 3 favorite (and super easy) DIY spa recipes...click the links below to check them out.  Fair warning:  At one point I actually say, "just...ream it."  Oy vey...

DIY Beauty Disasters - I have certainly had my fair share of bad DIY beauty experiments.  I've put nearly everything you could think of on my hair, the worst being mayo...yuck!  I stay away from at home treatments that involve chemicals and I like to keep the recipes on the simple side.  It's not very relaxing to clean up a giant mess afterwards.

DIY Beauty Tips - I have used this recipe for body scrub for  years and I swear by it.  It is so effective but so much less expensive than store bought varieties.  Plus, I love knowing that it's literally two organic ingredients - no dyes, no fragrance, no chemicals.  For the face mask, I like to mash up the avocado before adding the honey - this gives you more control with the texture of the mask.  The foot soak recipe is also really great for the whole body but use a full gallon of milk in your bathtub and eliminate the rocks/marbles (ouch).

fash movies on Netflix...

I adore fashion...I adore movies...I adore fashion movies!  Below are my top picks available for streaming on Netflix:

Bill Cunningham New York - The most recent addition to my list of favorites.  Bill is an amazing, one of a kind character that literally set the gold standard for street style photography ages before everyone else.  He is charming and humble and revered by all the major players in fashion, past and present.

The September Issue - Any movie with that much Anna Wintour is a must see in my book.  The inside look into what it takes to assemble the biggest issue of the year in the most important fashion magazine is fascinating!  Bonus: I fell in love with Grace Coddington...worship!

Picture Me - This documentary about model Sara Ziff follows her from the start of her career and chronicles the highs and lows of her journey through the industry.  The footage is shot by a combination of people, including Sara herself.  What I thought would be a fun, frothy film wound up to be a compelling inside look at an industry that isn't always as glamorous as it seems.

Pret a Porter/Ready to Wear - A super fun, star studded Robert Altman romp through Paris Fashion Week.  It's a hilarious, tongue in cheek look at what is sometimes a ridiculous, overly dramatic industry.  Major fashion cameos are included as well as actual runway shows chock full of amazing clothes...and the soundtrack is perfectly on pitch for fashion in the 1990's.

Seamless - A fascinating look at the process of winning the first ever CFDA Fashion Award...won of course by fashion darlings, Jack McCullough & Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler.  Doo.Ri almost steals the show with her endearing personality and incredible work ethic against major challenges.

Designers, Fashions &  Runways - A 26 episode series of behind the scenes footage of world renowned high fashion designers.

Starz Inside: Fashion in Film - Examines fashion's impact on film.

Unzipped:  This documentary follows Isaac Mizrahi as he produces his New York Fashion Week runway show in 1994.  The scene of Mizrahi in his bed, waxing poetic about walking a dog in a fur jumpsuit still has me laughing today...

ps - I didn't include Valentino: The Last Emperor as it is not currently available on Netflix but it's a wonderful film and should not be missed...

I've been in dire need of a new (clean) mousepad for some time now but I've been looking in stores and online and have been left unfulfilled.  The giant office supply chains have the most unimaginative options on their shelves --- I wouldn't pay more than $1 for a boring ass, royal blue neoprene square!

Thus, I clicked my way over to CafePress and made my own...it arrived today and I'm super thrilled.  Clearly the design is a tad inspired by Missoni (hello! it's been on my brain) but the font I chose also gives it a Western, cowgirl vibe...I dig it!

Better than this piece of junk, yes?
