I live for sweatshirts and sweatpants and I'm always looking for stylish ways to wear them in public. Instead of channeling George Costanza look for pieces with interesting details. When styled right you'll be comfy AND chic!

Friday's Five Favorites...cringe inducing salon names!
FFF, fail, fun and games, hair1 Comment
What's in a name? I've run across "cute" names for hair salons over the years and most don't give me much confidence in the quality of their work (totally judging a book by its cover, I know). Some do make me chuckle...a bit. The top 5 cringe-y names:
5. Curl Up & Dye - ok, pretty clever...but it makes me think of grey perms...'nuff said.
4. Hair Lair - this one makes me a bit itchy.
3. On Purpose Hair - huh? Is the end result so bad you have to explain to people that your 'do is on purpose?
2. Hair Today, Hair Tomorrow - I mean...?
1. Clippety Do Dah! - inspired by Yankee Doodle Scissors from the TV show Wings?
HaPpY fRiDaY eVeRyOnE!!!
Friday's Five Favorites...summer flicks!
FFF, fun and games, media, spring/summerComment
Beat the heat of the sweltering end of summer and catch a movie in a cold, dark theatre. These are the five flicks I must see this August. Click the links to view the trailers...
* The Help - I meant to read the book but forgot where I put it so I'll just watch the movie instead...yes, I know, it won't be nearly as good. I'll deal with it...
* Chasing Madoff - The subject matter is fascinating!
* Our Idiot Brother - I adore Paul Rudd...I adore comedies...I adore Paul Rudd comedies...
* Shut Up Little Man! - I first heard of this on the Howard Stern Show...Some of the best works come from creative people with no grand plan.
* Midnight in Paris - this is kind of a cheat because I've already seen it. But it's the best Woody Allen movie I've seen in a while and it's one of the best movies by any director I've seen in a while. I basically need Woody to come out with a movie each month...

Happy Independence Day! Below are 5 ways to help you celebrate in style..
Red, White & Blue salad - Watermelon, Feta cheese and Blueberry combined with red wine or balsamic vinegar and a dash of salt and pepper makes a refreshing side dish. It's a unique alternative to the strawberry/blueberry/whipped cream flag desert from your mum's favorite magazine circa 1993. Serve in a clear bowl so the bright mix of colors brightens your table.
A water resistant picnic blanket is key for cuddling under the fireworks...display our nation's colors in a more subtle way by going for a classic plaid pattern.
Instead of the traditional flag of the USA hang buntings for a charming New England feel.
We aren't fans of firing off bottle rockets and the like from home but who doesn't love a sparkler? Be sure safety precautions are taken, especially if children are present. Check out this firework safety guide.
As for sartorial gear this holiday we suggest choosing either red or blue but not both. A white linen pant with a red tank or a blue printed dress will be stylish and festive!
